"Coal at Peace with Nature"

Coal mining has been in operation since 1910 in Aydın, Şahnalı, and the coal is being submitted to the market under the brand name Aydın Lignite after being treated to become fit with environmental norms at washing/enriching facilities.

Conscious of keeping humanity at peace with his environment and the nature, we are running a project on forestation of mining waste lands since 2000, together with Aegean Forestry Development Institute.

Within this project, it is discovered that the olive (olea europea), pseudo-acacia (Robinia Pseudoacacia) and Fig (Ficus Carica) are the best trees to adapt both to the region and the soil, and to contribute most positively to the ecological balance.

By planting these trees on abandoned discharge areas, these areas are now returning back to the nature and as assets, to the economy. 50,000 olive trees on a land of approximately 325 acres, 1600 red-lobbed figs over 20 acres, and 50,000 acacias over slopes are planted. With the planned future plantings, an “olive forest” of 125,000 trees will be realized to reinforce the peace between the coal and the nature.
